TThe Hard Truth: Even Children Deal with Death and Grief
Our Bereavement Services for children were created after I saw how little support there was for youth navigating such a heavy experience. The loneliness they feel during a funeral, how isolated they are, and how difficult it can be for them to return to school and “act normal” afterward. Many kids, aged 5-12, have shared that no one ever asks them what they want to do when someone dies.
Though it’s hard to talk about, death and grief are unavoidable, especially when children or those close to them are affected. That’s why we’re here to help. We equip children with tools and strategies to cope with the mix of emotions that come with death, support them during funerals when needed, and assist them in adjusting after.
Our services include:
School Bereavement Breaks: Offering mental health support during grief for as little as one day or up to a week. We do not provide core academics. Instead of staying home isolated grieving, We provide a safe, therapeutic setting with one on one sessions to help navigate the grief to prepare for the return to school or help with finding an alternative.
Funeral Home Support: We help funeral homes become more child-friendly by adding calming corners with therapeutic toys for children to process grief. and setting up a kid friendly celebration of life
Funeral Buddy Bereavement Sessions for Children: Tailored sessions and support for children experiencing the death of someone very close to them. Support before, during and afterwards.
LOUD Loss Of U Dying 6-Week Deep Soul Session for Parents: A six-week session designed to help parents process the deep emotions related to grief before, during, and after the death of a loved one. This program focuses on emotional support, coping strategies, and finding healing as parents face the difficult journey of grief.
Pet Death Support: We also provide services to help children cope with the death of a pet.
