Healing starts here...

Your Family’s Safe Space for Grief Support & Healing

At Mental Heart, we support grieving moms and children through building bonds and the hardest losses — including miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death (up to 4 weeks), and the death of a parent or sibling. Our year-long programs, LOUD (Loss Of U Dying) for mothers and Funeral Buddy for children, offer consistent, compassionate support through every season of grief.

We use Grief + Play to gently guide healing, connection, and coping in fun, engaging, immersive ways — when words aren’t enough and the weight feels too heavy. Whether you need grief respite, sibling support during a funeral, or simply a place to fall apart and rebuild, mental health doesn’t have to be scary or boooring. lets grieve, heal and play about it.

Supporting Families Through Loss

How We Support Families

Compassionate, grief-sensitive play and parent-guided support—paired with gentle real-world introductions—to help children process loss and rebuild emotional balance.

Better Emotional Control

Kids learn to recognize and name their feelings, practice healthy coping strategies, and gain confidence in managing worries. So, tantrums calm down and new challenges feel less overwhelming.

Stronger Family Bonds

Parents receive simple activities and conversation prompts to use at home, join regular support check-ins, and build shared routines. So, every session becomes a chance to reconnect and grow together.

Why It Works

Healing Takes a Village. We’re Part of Yours

We partner with parents, caregivers, schools, and funeral homes to provide wraparound support that honors each child’s emotional journey and empowers their growth.

Our APPROACH

Healing Through Play & Connection

We use age-appropriate play and real-world practice—alongside parent coaching—to help kids name emotions, practice coping skills, and heal from loss together.

Play-Centered Assessment

We observe each child’s natural play to uncover fears, strengths, and goals—then tailor a plan that meets them exactly where they are.

Project-Based Learning

Through art, storytelling, and guided activities, we break down big feelings using the “Who, What, When, Where, Why” model in a fun, hands-on way.

Family & Community Integration

Parents join the process with coaching sessions, take-home toolkits, and community workshops—so healing extends beyond our four walls.

Data-Driven Progress

We track milestones (emotional check-ins, confidence scales, skill mastery) to celebrate wins and adjust as your child’s needs evolve.

Real-World Prep

From dentist tours to grocery-store role-plays, we turn once-scary experiences into confidence-building adventures.

I cannot speak highly enough about Mental Heart Healing House and K–4 Microschool. This incredible school goes above and beyond and has provided a nurturing environment where my child's unique needs are met. Not only do they offer a comprehensive education, but they also seamlessly integrate STEM-based learning and therapeutic play into their curriculum. It's truly heartwarming to see how they prioritize the holistic development of my child. Mental Heart Healing House and K-4 Microschool is an exceptional school that truly understands the importance of providing a complete educational experience.

We're so thankful and grateful we found Amanda and Mental Heart Therapeutic Play. My son comes from a severe trauma history but thanks to the programs they offer at Mental Heart Therapeutic Play he has found his voice, his calm and we as a family have found community and support. No other therapy or services we've tried have provided us so much growth and healing. Thank you with all our hearts. We cannot wait to start school this fall with Mindful Hearts!

We absolutely LOVE Mental Heart Therapeutic Play. Mrs. Amanda and Mrs. Cynthia connected with my 3yr old daughter right away and got her to open up about her fears about sleeping in her own bed. They made a goal with her and within a couple of weeks she was sleeping alone in her own room through the night! She hasn’t done that since birth! We tried as much as we could to get her to be comfortable and nothing was working. Mental Heart was the missing piece. In addition to that she is doing an amazing job using the skills they taught her to regulate her emotions. I can actively see her using those skills when she feels those body cues Mrs. Amanda and Ms. Cynthia taught her. It’s amazing to watch. Her younger brother isn’t old enough to attend but she is teaching him the skills she’s learned. The therapists here work alongside of us and help us with the tools that we need. Since my daughter is now better at managing emotions, calmer throughout the day, and getting enough rest, we notice she has the capacity to overcome her potty training regression. We as parents feel like there is an action plan to handle challenges throughout the day so we are much less frustrated and don’t feel helpless. Our house is much calmer and our daughter is much happier. Thank you Mental Heart Therapeutic Play!

Question Answer

Frequently Asked Questions

We guide families through life’s toughest seasons—grief, low self-esteem, big transitions, and more—using play-based support and small-group connection. Every family’s needs change, so we adapt our programs to help children and parents navigate:

  • Major losses (death of a loved one or pet)

  • New challenges (moving to AZ, school suspensions, heavy travel)

  • Family shifts (divorce, blending families, CPS/DCS involvement)

  • Life milestones (new baby, miscarriage)

If your family is going through change, we’re here to help you heal together.

Absolutely. Our licensed play therapists combine art, games, and guided conversation to build trust and uncover what your child is feeling—then model healthy ways to express and process those emotions.

Healing is a family journey. Parents get:

  • A personalized three-month workbook to use at home

  • Post-session check-ins and weekly text support

  • Invitations to monthly parent-child groups & milestone celebrations

  • Referrals to coaching or therapy when deeper work is needed

Our goal is to strengthen your connection so you feel confident guiding your child long after you leave our doors.

Therapeutic play at Mental Heart isn’t talk therapy—it’s hands-on learning. Through immersive activities, your child practices naming feelings, coping tools, and behavior strategies in a natural, playful setting. We sit alongside you both, encouraging each new skill and mentoring every step of the way.

No. We’re a holistic play-centered program, not a medical clinic. If clinical diagnosis or medication is needed, we’ll connect you with licensed therapists, psychologists, or pediatric specialists. We welcome all children—including those on prescribed treatments—and focus on building emotional resilience, whatever your care path looks like.
